The Untold Household Story
Why I am building the Household System.
One home.
One story.
Many moments.
Many memories.
Life does not stop when a mortgage is approved.
It begins.
01 · Clapham, London
Every HomeGraph begins with
one household.

Mine began in Clapham.
Walking through the neighbourhood each day, with Battersea Power Station on the horizon, I found myself returning to one simple question.
Why does financial understanding stop the moment someone completes a mortgage?
Homes continue changing.
Families continue changing.
Children grow up.
Careers evolve.
Savings accumulate.
Homes improve.
Parents grow older.
Life never stops.
Yet financial institutions still understand households through isolated moments rather than continuous relationships.
That question became MIZAN. Not another mortgage platform. Not another fintech application. A new operating system for Continuous Home Finance.
Because while neighbourhoods evolve…
Markets evolve…
Technology evolves…
The household story continues.
02 · Memory
Banks remember transactions.
Homes remember lives.
Households remember promises, sacrifices, setbacks and recovery.
Financial systems remember documents.
Nothing in that gap is malicious. It is architectural. Each institution was built to see one product, at one moment, for one purpose. A bank sees the mortgage. An insurer sees the policy. A utility sees consumption. A government sees a property on a register.
Nobody sees the home. And nobody sees the household living inside it.
03 · One idea, seen four ways
I did not set out to build four things. I kept returning to the same observation from a different position, and each time it became a little clearer.
- 01
RentPassport
Portable financial identity for renters — proving what the credit system, on its own, could not see.
More than seven million renters - 02
HomeScore
Continuous understanding of the home, rather than a valuation captured once and left to age.
Thirty million UK homes - 03
HomeGraph
A consented, continuously updated representation of a home across its whole life — design, construction, ownership, maintenance, improvement and eventual redevelopment.
- 04
MIZAN
Continuous context turned into fairer, explainable institutional action.
Separately, and without implying any relationship between the numbers above: fifteen months co-designing household intelligence alongside one of Britain's largest banks.
These were never separate companies. They were one idea seen through different lenses — first the renter, then the home, then the relationship between the two.
04 · Conviction
There was a period in which the argument stopped being professional. An accident, surgeries, and a long recovery. Canopy was acquired, and the original shareholders were written down. The engagement with the major bank concluded without deployment. And then I lost my own home.
I record those events plainly because they are facts, not because they deserve sympathy. Their only relevance is what they clarified.
A home is never merely collateral.
It holds a household.
When a home is lost, no institution loses an asset. A household loses its footing, its routine, its proximity to schools and work and family. The financial record captures none of that, which is precisely the point.
05 · Why now
Continuous understanding of every household was always desirable. It was never affordable. Understanding a household required people, time and case-by-case judgement, so finance did the only economical thing available to it: it assessed once, at the beginning, and hoped.
AI changes that economics. It also creates a choice.
The narrow use
More productive banks.
- Automation.
- Productivity.
- Lower operational costs.
- Agents replacing manual work.
The larger opportunity
More resilient households.
- Understanding changing household context.
- Acting earlier.
- Improving household resilience.
- Making decisions explainable.
- A fairer relationship between institutions and households.
The larger opportunity is not to make banks more efficient at what they already do.
It is to let them do something they have never done.
Efficiency is not the enemy. A profitable institution is a durable one. The argument is simply that the same intelligence which lowers a bank's cost can also raise a household's resilience — and that a system which delivers only the first has taken half the opportunity and called it progress.

06 · Trusted memory
This is memory in service of the household,
not surveillance of it.
- ConsentedNothing is understood without the household's permission.
- ExplainableEvery conclusion can be traced, questioned and audited.
- ContinuousUnderstanding is maintained, not captured once and left to age.
- FairThe household benefits from being understood.
- Household consentGiven, visible and withdrawable.
- Trusted contextOnly what the household has agreed to share.
- Explainable decisionReasoned, recorded and auditable.
- Household benefitThe household is better off for being understood.
07 · Off-plan
Off-plan finance makes the problem impossible to ignore. Between reservation and completion there is a long interval, and households do not pause inside it. Incomes change. Families grow. Circumstances move while the building does.
The financial relationship, meanwhile, holds still — describing a household that no longer exists in quite that form by the time the keys are handed over.
- ReservationThe household as it was on the day it committed.
- ConstructionIncome, employment, family and health continue to change.
- CompletionA handover priced against the original assumption.
- OwnershipThirty years the system was never designed to observe.

08 · One global condition
Different markets. Different mortgage structures. The same missing capability: continuous understanding of the household after finance begins.
- Off-plan household
- US refinancing household
- UK fixed-rate household
A financial relationship that goes blind
the moment it begins.
09 · MIZAN
Everything above is an argument about seeing. What follows is only the infrastructure required to act on it: a way to make the home machine-readable, the household visible, and the resulting decision explainable to the people it affects.
- HOME + HOUSEHOLDThe thing finance has never actually seen.
- HOMEGRAPHContinuous, machine-readable context for the home and household.
- HOMESCOREResilience and financial understanding.
- BUTLERExplainable and auditable orchestration for regulated institutions.
- FAIRER INSTITUTIONAL ACTIONDecisions a household can recognise as its own.

Life does not stop when a mortgage is approved.
It begins.
For two centuries, finance has understood the loan.
The century now beginning belongs to understanding the household.
Everything else is infrastructure.
Household
Every home has a story.
Every household lives it.
